Design Process
To begin this process, after I thought of the concept of Style Savvy in general, I did a Competitor Analysis to compare other apps with a similar idea and see what I want to do differently or similar. This step was also extremely useful in ensuring that I was being original and unique so Style Savvy would stick out.
Based off of the information I gathered, I moved on to brainstorming name ideas. Again, wanting to be unique amongst the competing closet apps, I wanted to come up with a name that didn’t revolve around the words like “Closet”, “Wardrobe”, “Outfit”, etc., considering that was a very consistent pattern. That is when I finally came up with the name, “Style Savvy”.
When it came to creating a logo design, I had the same mindset. I wanted to strive away from the basic designs like hangers. I started to think of any object that revolved around fashion or closets and started to explore Pinterest for inspiration and sketch out ideas.
I then took these ideas and brought them to life in Illustrator. Until I settled on the needle concept.
Once I decided on a name and a logo, I dove into the skeleton of the app and started breaking everything down from the IA Structure, Race and Technology
Reading Mind Map, User Personas and sketching Wireframes.
I then planned everything out, I finally went into Figma, created a UI Kit to follow, and started on Style Savvy. I ensured to make the app as user friendly, visually appealing, unique and as easily functional as possible. After many hours of designing, prototyping, and testing, Style Savvy was finished!
